1. DATABASE PURPOSE
SFKGDRD is a pedigree and registry database. Our purpose is to record, organize, preserve, display and analyse dog pedigree, registration and related database information.
SFKGDRD is not an animal-training organisation, animal-fighting organisation, breeding authority, veterinary practice, animal-welfare organisation or law-enforcement body.
2. ANIMAL WELFARE AND ANIMAL CRUELTY
SFKGDRD does not support, promote, encourage, authorise or participate in animal cruelty or the unlawful treatment of animals.
Users are responsible for how they keep, handle, train, breed, transport, sell or otherwise deal with their animals.
3. SFKGDRD IS A DATABASE, NOT THE OWNER OF YOUR DOG
Registration of a dog or inclusion of a pedigree on SFKGDRD does not transfer ownership of the dog to SFKGDRD. SFKGDRD does not assume custody, possession or control of animals listed in the database.
4. PEDIGREE INFORMATION
Pedigree information may be submitted by users, obtained from available records, imported into the database, or otherwise recorded by SFKGDRD. SFKGDRD does not guarantee that every record is complete, current or free from error.
A pedigree should not by itself be regarded as independent scientific proof of parentage. Users requiring verified parentage should obtain appropriate supporting evidence, including DNA testing where appropriate.
5. CALCULATIONS AND TEST MATING
Blood-percentage calculations, pedigree calculations, common-ancestor results, coefficient calculations and test-mating results are database calculations based on information available to the system. They are not DNA testing and are not a guarantee of biological parentage.
6. USER RESPONSIBILITY
Users are responsible for information they submit and for their own conduct. Users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
7. POPIA — PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) establishes conditions for lawful processing of personal information and gives effect to the constitutional right to privacy.
SFKGDRD will process personal information in accordance with applicable POPIA requirements, including accountability, processing limitation, purpose specification, further-processing limitation, information quality, openness, security safeguards and data-subject participation.
8. PERSONAL INFORMATION
Personal information may include names, contact details, identification numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and online identifiers, where applicable.
9. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS
Subject to applicable law and lawful limitations, data subjects may have rights concerning personal information held about them, including access, correction and lawful processing.
10. INFORMATION SECURITY
SFKGDRD will take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unlawful access, loss, damage, unauthorised disclosure, modification or other unlawful processing.
11. NO TRANSFER OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR PRIVATE CONDUCT
The inclusion of a dog, owner, kennel, breeder, pedigree or other record does not make SFKGDRD responsible for private conduct associated with that record.
SFKGDRD provides database and information services. It does not control what independent users do with their animals outside the SFKGDRD platform.
Nothing in this clause removes any responsibility SFKGDRD may have under applicable law for its own acts or omissions.
12. REPORTING CONCERNS
If information on SFKGDRD is inaccurate, unlawfully disclosed, improperly attributed or otherwise requires attention, it may be reported to SFKGDRD administration for review.
13. ACCEPTANCE
By using SFKGDRD, users acknowledge that SFKGDRD is a pedigree and registry database and agree to use the information and services responsibly and in accordance with applicable law.
